The recent topics about any of the dark artifacts have all gone down the crapper. Personally I think DA Team chose the worst possible way to implement them. I am not going to put any names in this topic, as I sympathize with the poor people having to put up with all the "attention" that comes along with it. However, I will add my say on it.

The frustrations that I read in those topics boil down to a few general points:

* DA has been without updates for a loooooong time now.

* Some people spent 10+ hours doing the manor quest to get a demon lord's note.

* People are frustrated that there are no clear indication that the "random" pop-ups are in fact random and that anyone can get them as long as they have the note.

* Those same frustrated people want as much info as possible because they want to find items of their own.

* Its a new update happening after a long period of nothing good. Of course most people would want it or if they cannot have one themselves, at least know what the update is all about.

* Some people are being asses about it because they are jealous that it is not them getting the bragging rights for obtaining a rare item.

* DA Team have said the items are not pure only, yet so far only pures have found them. People are interested to know if that means DA Team is just messing with the subs to keep them from getting upset and quit.


Personally I like the idea of ultra rare items, since that is what the game needs in lasting appeal. However, as I know have been discussed many times now (especially around the guardian time) it is not a good idea to not give us any updates and then only release these rare items or updates limited to only a few people. When was the last time masters got any useful gear update? UD that is like 2 years ago (and that only applies to some classes). Then DA Team taunt us for years about these notes, saying they are in the game already and we are just too stupid to find them.
I know many people (myself included) who have been walking around with a note at all times for the last 6 months, in just about every single area of Temuair. I just find it funny that all of a sudden they start raining down, when the DA Team said they were available all along. Another thing is that if they DA Team really spent a year working on these updates, that means that is a year of not working on anything else. Of course they should give it out to more people then, since spending a year of work and then only letting 10-15 people try the quests would only make the rest of the players more frustrated.

One example. Why havent any wizards found the ring?

Which leads me to my point, why are we putting up with this?

For warriors and monks the dark artifacts are very strong but they are only going to be in a small number of hands. Think of those hands as invisible aislings as if it never happened and you'll be content that you are almost just as strong as everyone else. Work towards better goals such as ability hunting. Eventually our weapons and armor for medenia will far surpass dark artifacts.. perhaps sooner than you think.

Think brightly and look towards the future rather than dwelling on the past and present.

Actually, I dont really care about the power of the items. The monk item is measly in power increase (like x1.5 assail damage, yay?) and I dont have a warrior who need the eclipse (I made him for the axe, so Ill stick with that). I doubt the DA Team will be smart and give the wizard ring +XX INT so it will actually be useful, so I can just be hunting exp and buy mana to make my wizard stronger.

However, what I do care about is how they waste time making these quests if they are only going to let a handful of people do them.
If the items were meant to be so rare, they should just have given them the items in the pop-up and left it at that. Judging from the Eclipse quest, it obviously took some time to implement it. That is time they could have spent making more of medenia, new hunting areas in Tem or working on other updates that would be available to everybody.

Then is the fact that they keep giving out false info (or deliberately misleading players into thinking that they in fact did implement the items).
It was what, 6 months ago that Kru said that the items were already available. If they are so easy to get that you can get them hunting SW, Im pretty sure somebody would have found them over the past 6 months.

You say to look forward to higher ab. I am actually doing just that. However, with DA Team wasting time on these quests, new and more fun medenia hunting areas are further away. My point is that either they let more people have the items, or they shouldnt have spent so much time making the quests. Hell, we dont even know if they have made the last 3 quests yet.

You know they haven't made the last 3 quests yet, at least not implemented them. There's no realistic rarity rate that would keep it a secret this long. It's obvious they have just recently implemented them (and still are).

The-monk-who-shall-remain-nameless said that the quest was broken and that they had to send a support ticket to Nexon, which Nexon replied that it is being fixed. It seems like this is just one hand-selected Beta test from Nexon. They can't even set up their own test server and internally test it? Ah well, it's not like I'm even saying anything new anymore.

Neacal, you should play their game of Cat and Mouse and submit a ticket saying you found the Dark Ring but your quest menu seems to be broken, see wha they say back to you. :D

Some other people should do this for the Priest and Rogue items, just try to make it sound as realistic as possible and see what they reply to you with (and post it here for general amusement).

I agree with everything this man here have said about Nexon and what people should do. I just wonder does it really take them so long to make a few pictures and type some codes? I've seen games that is free have more updates/events then Darkages -_-

It seems that they do read them because I was "ignored" for quite a bit (random tickets closed without a word) and so I submitted a ticket saying that it's pretty shady business practice to do such a thing and that's the equivalent of their CS dept. hanging up on a customer.

Needless to say, they responded back to me with a real reply. :)

Yes some items should be rare, but that should be because you have to work VERY HARD to get them, not just stand around with your thumb up your ass getting a popup while you daydream.

Neacal, why do you keep saying six months? Nexon has been saying the items are in the game for like a year now, not six months. I too believe they are full of crap. Remember when they kept replying mails saying that the fruit quest worked? Then finally they admitted they just realized how rare it is to find the fruit, then a couple months after that they finally upped the rate.

If anyone needs a reminder of how incompetent the dateam is just remember the useless shield wizards get after completing the UD quest.

Akuhei, do you have any idea who Dave is? Did you play during his time? Do you remember what he implented / done for Dark Ages? If so you'll pull back your short statement.

I do agree with Silent, for the short time being with us M^2 did more for the community than anyone else.

That shield is teh leet, I use it on my wizard all the time. I've never taken it off, but come to think of it, I never get offered to hunt. Wait a sec *Shakes fist in the air* Damn dirty nexon!

Yes Quazi, i found myself posting some of those 100+ flaws but stopped myself. I should have left in the part where i used nexons replies about fruit quest working just fine to compare with the crap they've been saying about the dark artifacts for the past year.

Lets see, fruit quest comes out,we tell them its not working, they reply that yes it does work and six months later they finally admit that "oh, we just realized how rare it is to even find the fruit LOLZ!"(ok, not a exact quote, but close enough, i think they even used ":P" correct me if im wrong?) and then 2 months later they finally fix that quest. Why did it take two months after their realization though?

Whats even worse is that they have a quite large dedicated community all ready to tap for resources. If they opened up a dialogue with the community, they wouldnt have to change every update a few times because it is no good. They could get it right first try.

If you dont like Nexon's Service's, Then dont pay them? Nexon has no idea were all frustrated about them never updating. Why? BECAUSE WE STILL PAY THEM THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS A MONTH! Maybe if you havent paid nexon in 2 years like me, you wouldnt be worried about all this.

If Nexon was EVER smart of enough to give them to the people that work the hardest, who would they give them to? The people that have been running around with there thumbs up there ass's looking for them, or the people that complain the most? The only way they CAN implement these items is its Randomness. If it was a quest, people would be done with it in a day at the most.

People still havent [filtered]ing realized that Nexon does this for a dam purpose, they Stretch every quest, every update, every bug-fix(or lack there of) to keep all of you stuck into this game. And you wonder why so many people are addicted to this game? Its because Nexon leads you on to believe that everything is coming soon so you spend more money waiting for it.

In conclusion : People are addicted to this game because of 2 things. The friends aspect of DarkAges, that they have no idea who you are. Being friends with you, and them not caring what you look like, doesnt that make you happy? And the second is a Business technique that keeps you glued into this game. A technique that makes you addicted to believe "Whats next?".

Nexon+Lots of Money > People's Feelings - Deal with it.

To add on: I have to agree. M^2 was the best GM we ever had, and to see him go was a very sad day for all of us. He was such a nice guy, very helpful, and did good things for DA.

Dave basically botched DA from day 1, with his unfinished projects and loathing of wizards. Even Mark was more helpful than Dave was, when Dave returned. I remember being able to email Mark and get a helpful reply. Then one day Dave came. The issues I was emailing Mark about were very serious (things that could easily warrant an IRL arrest of somebody.) and when I forwarded everything on to Dave, he ignored me. That left an awfully sour taste in my mouth.

As for the whole Dark Artifact thing, a lot of the topics have gone sour because of how people have treated the finding party. It's not their job to spill every last bit of information about these things, because we know there is no forumla to finding the popup.

I would not have had half the fun I did doing GM quests if I sat there with a walkthrough. It was new, it was dangerous, and it was a challenge. Now, on my last character, I did all 4 GM quests in 2 hours. Walk to room, summon, ard, spear arrow, dead. Not really such a great time.

I agree, Try to start increasing your Ab Level than waste your time on items that probably aren't that good anyway. Alsaids is coming out soon and probably the new weapons are going to surpass that Dark Artifacts. Eventually Someone will tell their friend and their friend would tell his friend and so on and so forth and by the time you know it, it'll be posted on Quest Forum =)

Let me just say that I'm willing to help anybody with a dark artifact to analyze the item by shifting faith, the same way I did with Selkhit.
The only artifact that interests me is the cluais jewel, but I'm really curious about what they do.

I found this rather humorous. I didn't realize personal appearance meant a whole lot in real life, let alone online. Of course it is funny to laugh at the extremely "well-rounded" and ugly people, but if said person is your friend, who cares, e-friend or not.

Wrong, it is more fun searching when you know what you are looking for can actually be found.

What we are complaing about is not that people dont post a walkthrough, I would prefer to have my fun figuring it out myself. We are complaining about this so called "random" pop-up turning into another fruit story.

Maybe the DA Team have spilled out a few more brittle blades the other day, because people called their bluff. Or maybe they saw that the quest work and figured they would implement the random pop-up. There have already been 3 artifacts found in about the last month, they'll probably keep coming out at that rate or faster now so I don't think we have to worry about not as many people being able to get the Dark Artifacts as people think (20'ish or more people in the next 6 months isn't that bad when the game really only have about 800 active people).

Even if sub's can get the artifacts it may be easier for pures to obtain them (which could explain why 2 warriors found it so far... Warriors probably have the most pures of any of the other class's).

* Other people lucky enough to find them are being asses about it because they have no idea WHATSOEVER on how to deal with a populous of 800+ trying to find the same artifact.

IE Quotes like "No more posting pics of me/my stuffs here, thanks."(Selk) Cudos to you on how to deal with the populous.

M^2 was by far the most bias GM we ever had, and had very good reasion why he only lasted a fraction of the time as the others.

My last character is actually my 6th master. ;) Nobody wants to do the quest the full way through anymore, and if they do, they want to power through it. Plus, now that I've done them all several times, I know how to do them. They're just not as fun the second time when you know -exactly- what you're doing, and don't need to read/figure out any clues.

The first time you do it, when you have to sit there with a group going "What does this mean?" is such a good time. When I got through Medusa for the first time, I have never been more satisfied completing something on DA. That's what I'm saying.

So your basically saying you want to force this great time you personally have doing the quest without knowing anything about the quest onto everyone else in the world?

Also your origional post where you were complaining about walkthroughs because (we found out) that you've done the quest multiple times already is totaly flawed... Walkthroughs (or knowing something about the quest that you didn't find out yourself) didn't ruin that for you, the fact you've done the quest before did; unless your trying to say you want amensia everytime you finish a quest so you can do it the "first" time everytime?

He might have been biased, but not nearly as much as Dave. The only reason why Dave was around longer is because he brought DA to life. M^2 spoke to the community unlike every other GM. He asked what we liked and what we didn't like. He got [filtered] done during the very short time he was a GM.

Did Nexon say they were going to give us new weapons? If not please stop spreading rumors. If so, i want the proof.
